| Detailed Description | * WHAT. As Hurricane Rafael begins to move away from the Florida Keys, peak water levels may reach 1.5 feet above mean higher high water for Atlantic side communities, or about half foot higher than recent high tides. For the Bayside Communities, water levels may diminish with the increasing east to southeast winds. * WHERE. Upper Florida Keys. * WHEN. Through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS. Minor saltwater flooding of low elevation streets and lots is likely. Some storm drains will overflow, and some seawalls and docks will be overtopped. Boaters can expect less clearance under fixed bridges. Motorists should remember that persistent puddles around the times of high tide are almost certain to contain a mix of saltwater. |
