Brief Description WINTER STORM WARNING
Detailed Description 3:20 PM MDT Thursday 23 May 2024 Winter Storm Warning in effect for: South Delta Region including Ft. McPherson - Tsiigehtchic A major winter storm is expected. A spring storm will bring freezing rain and heavy snow to parts of the Mackenzie Delta on Friday. Freezing rain or wet snow will change to snow during the day Friday. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are expected before the storm ends Saturday morning. Snowfall amounts will be lower near Tsiigehtchic where rain is likely during the day Friday. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
