Brief Description Snow Squall Warning
Detailed Description Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will rapidly accumulate. Hazards: Total snowfall accumulations of 15 to 35 cm with locally higher amounts possible if a snow squall remains over a particular area. Peak snowfall rates of 4 to 7 cm per hour. Near zero visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow. Timing: Now continuing through late this evening and returning to the regions early on Sunday morning. Discussion: Lake effect snow off of Lake Superior will continue to intensify into snow squalls this evening ahead of a frontal passage. These snow squalls are expected to move southward near midnight or early Sunday morning when the winds become northwesterly. ### Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be extremely hazardous due to reduced visibility. Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Road closures are likely. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
