| Detailed Description | 10:46 AM PDT Tuesday 13 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: South Okanagan - including Penticton Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. For the Okanagan Valley, the greatest likelihood of severe thunderstorms will be over the ridges, particularly east of the valley. Hail is also possible. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
