10:59 AM EDT Thursday 15 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Trois-Rivières area Heavy rainfall possible in isolated thunderstorms again today. Conditions are also favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail. Heavy rain could cause local flash flooding and may affect structures, roads and buildings already weakened by last week''s events. Please remain vigilant in the event of heavy rain. Strong wind gusts can toss loose loose objects, damage less sturdy buildings and break tree limbs. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Water-related activities may be unsafe due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
