1:24 AM CST Saturday 24 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: City of Regina At 1:24 AM CST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of dangerous thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to toonie size hail and heavy rain. This line extends from Rouleau south to the international border near Minton and west to Grasslands National Park, moving northeast at 45 km/h. Hazard: 110 km/h wind gusts, toonie sized hail, and over 50 mm of rainfall. Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Avoid driving through water on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Watches 1:14 AM CST Saturday 24 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: City of Regina Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and damaging hail. Thunderstorms continue across southern and central Saskatchewan and will last into the morning. Some of these thunderstorms will be severe. Strong winds and heavy rain are the prevailing threats. Watches will be extended as the situation develops. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
