9:55 PM CDT Saturday 24 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Mun. of McCreary incl. Norgate Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and torrential rain. Conditions are favourable for the continued development of severe thunderstorms tonight in parts of southeastern Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba. The main threats from these thunderstorms will be: - hail to the size of tennis balls - Wind gusts to 110 km/h - Rainfall well in excess of 50 mm/h - A tornado or two possible Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
