Brief Description SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
Detailed Description 1:15 PM EDT Monday 5 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Sarnia - Petrolia - Western Lambton County At 1:15 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Corunna to Morpeth, moving east at 50 km/h. Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts and heavy rain. Locations impacted include: Chatham, Petrolia, Rodney, Wallaceburg, Oil Springs, Blenheim, Rondeau Provincial Park and Ridgetown. Fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
