Statements 9:20 PM ADT Tuesday 9 July 2024 Special Weather Statement in effect for: Queens County P.E.I. Potential for significant rainfall early Thursday into Friday. Locations: Prince Edward Island A slow-moving and somewhat disorganized weather system will move into the region beginning early Thursday morning and linger into Friday. While the rain could be intermittent through this period, complicating matters is that tropical moisture from the remnants of Beryl is expected to feed into this system. This could potentially enhance rainfall amounts and increase the risk of heavy rainfall rates. The evolution of this system will be closely monitored, and rainfall warnings may be required for areas most at risk. Similar events in the past have brought heavy downpours and pooling of water, as well as localized flooding in low-lying areas. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to PEstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #PEStorm .
