Brief Description SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
Detailed Description 3:25 AM EDT Tuesday 16 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Strathroy - Komoka - Western Middlesex County Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Hazards: Wind gusts up to 100 km/h. Local rainfall amounts up to 50 mm possible. Up to nickel size hail. Timing: Early this morning. Discussion: A line of thunderstorms is currently pushing through southwestern Ontario early this morning. Isolated damaging wind gusts will be possible with this line as it tracks eastward along along with torrential downpours and large hail. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
