12:57 AM NDT Tuesday 25 June 2024 Rainfall Warning in effect for: Avalon Peninsula Southeast A long episode of rain, at times heavy, is expected. Locations: Burin and southern Avalon Peninsulas. Total rainfall: 70 to 100 mm, except locally 130 mm or more in areas of heaviest rain. Time span: until Tuesday night. Remarks: 25 to 65 mm of rain has already fallen today with rainfall rates of 10 to 15 mm per hour being observed at times along parts of the south coast. These heavy rainfall rates are expected to continue on and off throughout the event. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
