8:18 PM EDT Tuesday 25 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Kirkland Lake - Englehart At 8:18 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts and pea to dime size hail. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Howard Lake to Round Lake, moving east at 65 km/h. Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts. Locations impacted include: Northlands Park, Grassy Lake, Diamond Lake, North Arm, Misema Lake, Beaver House Lake, Kinabik Lake, Larder Lake, Ward Lake, Virginiatown, Kearns and Raven Lake. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Watches 11:13 AM EDT Tuesday 25 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Kirkland Lake - Englehart Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and damaging hail. Hazards: Wind gusts up to 100 km/h. Nickel to ping pong ball size hail. Risk of a tornado. Timing: This afternoon into this evening. Discussion: Very strong wind gusts and large hail are the most likely hazards. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
