FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 319, 320, 321, 322, 323, 324, 325, 326, 327, 328, 329, AND 332. . FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS. LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY. AND DRY THUNDERSTORMS FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 314, 315, 316, 317, AND 318. .An upper level ridge will bring hot temperatures and very dry relative humidities this week. The upper ridge breaks down Friday allowing a weak cold front to move through. The pre-frontal environment will be hot and dry with gusty winds at times. High- based thunderstorms are possible over northeastern Wyoming Thursday evening, which may contain dry lightning. Additional thunderstorms are possible Friday with little beneficial rainfall. Minimum relative humidities will drop to 9-15 percent Thursday afternoon and evening over northeastern Wyoming and parts of western South Dakota. Gusty southwest to southeast winds will develop, averaging 10-25 mph with gusts to 35 mph over the plains of western South Dakota. Critical fire weather conditions are likely Thursday and may extend into Friday east of the Black Hills depending on the timing of the cold front. The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening. * AFFECTED AREA. Fire Weather Zones 319 Northern Black Hills, 320 Central Black Hills, 321 Southern Black Hills, 322 Fall River County Area, 323 Northern Foot Hills, 324 Eastern Foot Hills, 325 Custer County Plains, 326 Pine Ridge Area, 327 Butte County Area, 328 Perkins County, 329 West Central Plains and 332 Badlands Area. * WINDS. Southeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY. As low as 12 percent. * IMPACTS. The combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity would produce critical fire weather conditions. |
