Maximum rainfall rates: 25 to 35 mm per hour. Locations: Cape Breton Island. Time span: continuing until later this afternoon. Remarks: Radar indicates intense downpours are associated with a cluster of showers and thunderstorms moving through the region. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Remarks: Scattered thunderstorms have developed early this afternoon and will persist into this evening. Some of these storms may be slow moving, leading to higher rainfall rates.
