Daytime maximum temperatures are expected to be near 30 degrees Celsius, with humidex values near 36. There will be little relief at night as minimum temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees Celsius are expected. A cooler airmass is expected to arrive on Sunday. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. Drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration. Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Never leave people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle. Watches 10:39 AM EDT Saturday 13 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Atikokan - Shebandowan - Quetico Park Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Timing: This afternoon into this evening. Hazard: Wind gusts up to 100 km/h. Hail of 2 to 3 cm. Heavy rain with local rainfall amounts up to 50 mm possible. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
