Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and visibility frequently near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring. When: Today to Friday evening. Where: Dempster Highway, particularly near the Richardson Mountains Remarks: A ridge of high pressure over the Beaufort Sea, in conjunction with an approaching frontal system over northern Yukon, will lead to strengthening easterly winds near the Richardson Mountains. Easterly winds will increase throughout the day today and be at their strongest tonight and Friday morning. These strong winds, combined with snowfall from the frontal system, are expected to produce blizzard conditions with near zero visibility. While conditions will begin to improve Friday afternoon as winds ease, blowing snow and reduced visibility will likely persist into Friday night. A more significant improvement in visibility is expected by Saturday morning as both winds and snowfall diminish. ### Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Blizzard warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 4 hours.
