6:44 AM ADT Thursday 18 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain. Rainfall rates: 15 to 25 mm/h, except possibly higher in thunderstorms. Locations: Kings and Cumberland counties. Time span: this morning. Remarks: Heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms have formed over the Bay of fundy and are tracking towards the east. Localized torrential rainfall may occur with some of the thunderstorms. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
