4:27 PM PDT Wednesday 24 April 2024 Snowfall Warning in effect for: Muncho Lake Park - Stone Mountain Park Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected. Where: Mainly east of Summit Lake along the Alaska Highway. When: This evening into Thursday morning. Remarks: A low pressure system over the area is currently bringing rain and gusty winds to the region. However, as freezing levels drop the precipitation is expected to transition to rain mixed with snow and then snow this evening. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected, with higher amounts, possibly up to 20 cm, over eastern sections. In addition, northerly winds with gusts near 60 km/h will persist overnight and into Thursday morning bringing reduced visibilities in local blowing snow, especially over eastern sections. The snow and winds will begin to taper off Thursday morning as the system moves off to the southeast Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
