| Detailed Description | 4:13 AM MST Friday 24 May 2024 Winter Storm Warning in effect for: Old Crow Snowfall mixed with freezing precipitation is expected. Where: Old Crow and Dempster Highway - northern sections near the Richardson Mountains. When: Today and tonight. Hazards: Freezing rain changing to snow this morning. Remarks: A spring storm will bring freezing rain then snow to Old Crow and northern sections of the Dempster Highway. Freezing rain will transition to snow this morning. Up to 5 mm freezing rain accretion early this morning will be followed by 10 to 15 cm of snow through this evening. Strong easterly winds of 40 km/h gusting to 60 near the Richardson Mountains may result in local blowing snow with lowering visibilities beginning this afternoon whereas Old Crow will have blowing snow this evening. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
