8:22 PM EDT Tuesday 4 June 2024 Tornado Warning in effect for: Sioux Lookout - Eastern Lac Seul At 7:22 PM CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado is located near Jeanette Lake, moving northeast at 70 km/h. Hazard: Tornado and 90 km/h wind gusts. Locations impacted include: Sesikinaga Lake, Gull Lake, Fawcett Lake and Kezik Lake. This storm will remain west of Pickle Lake. This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If you hear a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible. Hazards: Risk of tornadoes Wind gusts up to 100 km/h Heavy downpours Nickel sized hail Timing: Early this evening. Discussion: A line of thunderstorms will continue to push northeastward across the area early this evening. The main threats with these thunderstorms are strong wind gusts and a possible tornado. In addition, the moist airmass will allow for storms to produce heavy downpours. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area, it is recommended you take the following actions: Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can. As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
