Brief Description SNOW SQUALL WARNING
Detailed Description 1:57 PM EST Friday 28 February 2020 Snow squall warning in effect for: Pickering - Oshawa - Southern Durham Region Vaughan - Richmond Hill - Markham Snow squalls expected this afternoon. A well organized snow squall originating from Lake Huron will move across the area early this afternoon. This squall is capable of producing quick accumulations of 2 to 5 cm in an hour along with sudden reductions to near zero visibility in heavy snow. This band is expected to move out the region by early this evening. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm. 10:41 AM EST Friday 28 February 2020 Snow squall warning in effect for: Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region Uxbridge - Beaverton - Northern Durham Region Lake effect snow squalls into Saturday. A intense snow squall originating from Lake Huron is reaching inland as far as southern Durham region. Snowfall rates under this band may reach or exceed 5 centimetres per hour at times. The strongest snowsquall is currently extending from just north of Shelburne to Alliston then to Uxbridge. This squall is expected to move south this afternoon. Motorists should be prepared for poor winter driving conditions including slippery and snow covered roads along with very low visibility in Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
