Brief Description Coastal Flood Warning
Detailed Description * WHAT. The persistent tropical storm force winds will continue to exacerbate coastal flooding across the Florida Keys through late this evening. These winds, combined with persistent positive anomalies and high tide, will result in storm surge flooding of 1 to 3 feet above ground level. For reference, the recent King Tides reached 1.5 feet above mean higher high water. On the Atlantic side, the saltwater flooding will likely approach the peak levels observed at this morning's high tide. On the Gulfside, confidence is high in an extended period of some saltwater flooding this evening, although there continues to be quite a bit of uncertainty in the expected water levels. * WHERE. The Florida Keys. * WHEN. Through late this evening. * IMPACTS. Storm surge flooding will cause numerous roads to be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated. Flooding may extend over streets and low elevation properties a few blocks from the shoreline. Some shoreline erosion will occur.
