10:52 AM NDT Wednesday 17 April 2024 Special Weather Statement in effect for: Bay of Exploits A combination of snow and rain is expected, along with gusty winds. Locations: central and northeastern Newfoundland. Time span: Green Bay - White Bay: tonight to Thursday morning. Bay of Exploits and Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity: tonight to Friday morning. Gander and Vicinity and Bonavista North: Thursday afternoon to Friday morning. Total snowfall: areas along Notre Dame Bay: 10 to 20 cm (highest over elevated terrain). Grand Falls-Windsor and Gander: 5 to 10 cm. Total rainfall: areas east of Gander: 5 to 10 mm. Maximum wind gusts: northerly 70 to 90 km/h. Strongest winds along the coast. Remarks: Showers, drizzle and flurries will transition to snow tonight over the Baie Verte Peninsula and portions of Bay of Exploits. Further east, a mixture of drizzle, flurries and freezing drizzle will change to snow by Thursday afternoon. Snow will continue near Notre Dame Bay on Thursday night while areas further east will change to rain briefly. Freezing rain or ice pellets may occur over some areas during the changeover.
