| Detailed Description | 9:28 PM EDT Saturday 13 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Fort Hope - Lansdowne House - Ogoki At 9:28 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 70 kilometres east of Webequie to 30 kilometres southeast of Albany River Provincial Park, moving east at 55 km/h. Hazards: Up to 90 km/h wind gusts Up to nickel size hail. Torrential downpours. Locations impacted include: Fishtrap Lake and Streatfeild Lake. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. Drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration. Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Never leave people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle.
