| Detailed Description | Glacier dammed Hidden Lake near McCarthy is currently releasing. * WHAT. Flooding caused by a glacier-dammed lake outburst is expected. * WHERE. Kennicott River near Near Mccarthy. * WHEN. Until noon AKDT Sunday. * IMPACTS. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is likely. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 751 AM AKDT, river gauge reports indicate rises in water levels from a glacier-dammed lake outburst near McCarthy. Minor flooding is likely or expected to begin shortly, especially along the Kennicott River near McCarthy. - Inherent uncertainty in initial glacier lake volume will result in varying crest height and timing. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood |
