1:26 PM EDT Wednesday 22 May 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Bracebridge - Gravenhurst Port Carling - Port Severn At 1:26 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Stroud to 15 kilometres south of Christian Island, moving northeast at 70 km/h. Hazards: 100 km/h wind gusts Nickel sized hail Locations impacted include: Barrie, Orillia, Midland, Innisfil and Gravenhurst. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Discussion: Thunderstorms will develop along a cold front that will move through the province this afternoon and evening. The main threat will be strong winds and hail. However, a tornado will also be possible. Large hail can damage property and cause injury.
