11:01 AM EDT Monday 12 August 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: Big Trout Lake - Kasabonika A multi-day heat event begins today. A hot airmass is expected to affect the area today through Thursday. Cooler temperatures are expected Thursday night. Maximum temperatures are expected to be near 29 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures will be near 18 degrees Celsius. Humidex values will likely remain in the low to mid thirties. Smoke aloft from forest fires over Western Canada may dampen maximum temperatures today through Wednesday. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues. Drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration.
