| Detailed Description | 1:43 PM PDT Sunday 23 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Fort Nelson Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm . Statements 4:15 PM PDT Sunday 23 June 2024 Special Weather Statement in effect for: Fort Nelson What: Rain, heavy at times. Where: Fort Nelson region, primarily near Sikanni Chief, north Peace River region, Muncho Lake - Stone Mountain Parks. When: Continuing tonight to Monday morning. Remark: A frontal system will slowly move from the Fort Nelson region towards the Peace River region tonight. Rain, heavy at times, and embedded thunderstorms are expected with this system. Current models indicate local amounts up to 50 mm are possible, especially near Sikanni Chief and into the northern Peace River region, as well as Muncho Lake Park - Stone Mountain Park. The rain will ease early Monday for Muncho Lake Park - Stone Mountain Park and Fort Nelson regions. Rain will continue Monday for the northern Peace River region and end Monday evening.
