| Detailed Description | 6:41 AM MST Friday 30 August 2024 Special Weather Statement in effect for: Dempster Wet snow and patchy freezing rain expected. Where: Dempster Highway When: Until this afternoon Impacts: Reduced visibilities and slippery surfaces Remarks: A cold front is currently over the northern Yukon. Stronger easterly winds will pick up and rain will turn to wet snow. With some warmer air aloft, patchy freezing rain may develop this morning and continue through much of the day. 2 to 4 cm of snowfall accumulation is possible by this afternoon. The wet snow or freezing rain is expected to switch to a rain and snow mix late this afternoon before easing this evening.
