Brief Description Hydrologic Outlook
Detailed Description ESFAJK A strong frontal band will move into the panhandle in the latter half of the weekend bringing significant rain. Ensemble guidance have continued to trend upwards on heavier rain, currently focused on the northern half of the panhandle and NE gulf coast. The current highest likelihood of heavy rainfall is expected around the NE gulf coast and Icy Strait corridor, including Juneau. At this time, the aforementioned areas have a 80% or greater probability of 1.0 inches or more in a 24 hour period, or a 60% chance of 2.5 inches or more in 24 hours at sea level locations. Higher terrain locations should anticipate higher rainfall totals. With these values, many daily rainfall records are likely to be broken. Furthermore, due to the heavier rainfall occurring during a short period, smaller streams have a higher likelihood of raising quickly. The rains are expected to begin midday Saturday for the Northeast Gulf coast and Saturday evening for Northern Panhandle. The rain event is looking to last at least 24 to 36 in duration and should continue into Monday.
