Maximum daytime temperatures of 29 to 33 degrees Celsius are expected, with humidex values approaching 40 on Sunday. Overnight minimum temperatures will be 17 to 20 degrees Celsius. At this time, a slightly cooler and less humid airmass is expected to arrive Tuesday night. Although overnight lows may be cooler, warm daytime highs are expected through next week. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues. Hazards: Torrential downpours with 50 mm falling within an hour. Strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h. Nickel to ping-pong sized hail. Risk of a tornado. Timing: Today through this evening. Discussion: Thunderstorms moving through the area may be severe. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
