2:02 PM EDT Saturday 29 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls At 2:01 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 9 kilometres south of Little Missinaibi Lake to Harty, moving east at 75 km/h. Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts. Locations impacted include: Kapuskasing, Chapleau-Nemegosenda River Provincial Park, Ivanhoe Lake Provincial Park, Foleyet and Groundhog River Waterway Provincial Park. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Hail and locally heavy rain are also possible. Some of these thunderstorms may becoming severe with strong wind gusts and hail as the primary threats. Hazard: Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 45 mm. Locally higher amounts in thunderstorms are possible. Timing: Through this evening. Discussion: Showers, heavy at times, are expected to continue over parts of northeastern Ontario today. Embedded thunderstorms could give locally higher amounts. Showers will taper off this evening from west to east.
