4:47 AM MDT Thursday 23 May 2024 Winter Storm Watch in effect for: Aklavik Region A spring storm will bring freezing rain and heavy snow to parts of the Mackenzie Delta on Friday. Freezing rain or wet snow will begin Friday morning and will transition to heavy snow through the day. Between 10 and 15 cm of snow is expected by Saturday morning. Snowfall will taper off through the day Saturday. Surfaces such as roads and walkways may become icy and slippery. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
