10:19 PM CST Friday 23 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: R.M. of Morris including Watrous Young and Zelma At 10:19 PM CST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to toonie size hail and heavy rain. This line extends from Herschel northeast to Saskatoon and is moving north at 40 km/h. Hazard: 100 km/h wind gusts and toonie sized hail. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Thunderstorms formed in Montana have moved into the region and will last into the overnight period. Some of these thunderstorms may be severe. Strong winds and very large hail are the prevailing threats. Watches will be extended as the situation develops. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road.
