| Detailed Description | * WHAT. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 5 to 12 feet expected in the surf zone. For the Coastal Flood Warning, significant coastal flooding expected. * WHERE. Kenedy Island, Willacy Island and Cameron Island Counties. * WHEN. For the High Rip Current Risk, through Wednesday evening. For the High Surf Advisory, until 7 PM CDT Wednesday. For the Coastal Flood Warning, from 1 AM Wednesday to 1 PM CDT Thursday. * IMPACTS. Structural damage to buildings unprotected by seawalls may occur. Gulf water is crossing public beach access points, closing State Highway 100 from Beach Access #4 northward. Expect water crossing Gulf Blvd. with more than one foot of water depth. Driving on beaches, even in vehicles equipped with four wheel drive, will be impossible. Severe beach erosion, with calving of dunes, is likely. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. |
