10:03 PM EDT Saturday 27 April 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Espanola - Killarney At 10:02 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain. This cluster of severe thunderstorms is located near Lee Valley, moving northeast at 50 km/h. Hazard: Hail size of 2 cm in diameter or Nickel size. Locally heavy rainfall up to 50 mm within an hour. Locations impacted include: Sudbury, Espanola, Fairbank Provincial Park, Killarney Lakelands and Headwaters Provincial Park, Whitefish, Valley East, Milnet, Nickel Centre, Wanapitei Provincial Park, Lee Valley, Webbwood, Agnew Lake, McKerrow, Anderson Lake, Wabagishik Lake, Nairn Centre, West Cameron Lake, Bell Lake, Hannah Lake and Moon Lake. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Hazards: Large hail up to 3 cm in diameter or up to toonie size. Locally heavy rainfall up to 50 mm within an hour. Timing: Late this afternoon into early tonight. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
