| Detailed Description | 9:17 PM ADT Tuesday 9 July 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: Stanley - Doaktown - Blackville Area Very warm and humid weather continues. Time span: continuing on Wednesday. Minimum temperature tonight: 19 degrees Celsius. Maximum Temperature Wednesday: 30 degrees Celsius (Humidex 35 to 38). Locations: Southern half of New Brunswick (inland). Remarks: Cooler conditions can be expected along parts of the coast. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions. Limit direct sun exposure. Shade yourself by wearing a wide-brimmed, breathable hat and/or an umbrella. Watch for early signs of heat illness (feeling unwell, fatigue, thirst, headache) as these can rapidly evolve into life-threatening emergencies. Move to a cooler environment immediately, such as a shaded or air-conditioned space. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Watches 9:10 PM ADT Tuesday 9 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Stanley - Doaktown - Blackville Area Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Potential rainfall rates: 25 mm per hour or higher in thunderstorms. Potential hail size: up to 2 cm. Potential wind gusts: locally 90 km/h or higher in thunderstorms. Locations: Stanley - Doaktown; Fredericton and Southern York County; Oromocto and Sunbury County. Time span: early this evening. Remarks: A strong thunderstorm cell just west of the Maine / New Brunswick border is moving eastward and could affect the region within the next hour or so. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Statements 9:15 PM ADT Tuesday 9 July 2024 Special Weather Statement in effect for: Stanley - Doaktown - Blackville Area Potential for significant rainfall Wednesday night into Friday. Locations: most of New Brunswick, except for northern-most sections. A slow-moving and somewhat disorganized weather system will move into the region beginning later Wednesday night and linger into Friday. While the rain could be intermittent through this period, complicating matters is that tropical moisture from the remnants of Beryl is expected to feed into this system. This could potentially enhance rainfall amounts and increase the risk of heavy rainfall rates. The evolution of this system will be closely monitored, and rainfall warnings may be required for areas most at risk. Similar events in the past have brought heavy downpours and pooling of water, as well as localized flooding in low-lying areas.
