Brief Description Small Craft Advisory
Detailed Description Gradually Deteriorating Conditions This Week. A weak thermal trough pattern this weekend will strengthen and expand northward this next week. This will cause gusty north winds and building short period seas to generally expand northward with time. Seas are likely to become hazardous for a portion of the coastal waters area south of Brookings between 10 NM and 50 NM Monday evening through Monday night. . SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PDT FRIDAY. . HAZARDOUS SEAS WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT. * WHAT. For the Small Craft Advisory, north winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts 25 to 35 kt and seas 6 to 10 ft at a period of 10 seconds or less. For the Hazardous Seas Watch, very steep and hazardous seas 10 to 11 ft at a period of 8 seconds or less. * WHERE. The advisory is initially for areas southwest of Brookings between 5 and 30 NM of the coast. Advisory level conditions will then gradually expand northward this next week, to Cape Blanco Monday evening. The Hazardous seas watch is for areas between 10 and 50 NM of the coast west of Brookings Monday evening. After a brief lull late Tuesday into early Wednesday conditions are expected to deteriorate further across the area. * WHEN. For the Small Craft Advisory, until 5 AM PDT Friday. For the Hazardous Seas Watch, from Monday afternoon through late Monday night. * IMPACTS. Gusty winds and/or steep seas could capsize or damage smaller vessels in the Small Craft Advisory area. Very steep and hazardous seas could capsize or damage vessels in the Hazardous Seas Watch area.
