Brief Description Wind Warning
Detailed Description Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. Where: Western sections of Metro Vancouver near the water, Greater Victoria, Southern Gulf Islands. When: Now to midday today. Hazards: - Strong southeast winds at 70 gusting to 90 km/h, for Greater Victoria, and Southern Gulf Islands. - Possible very strong west winds at 70 gusting to 90 km/h for Metro Vancouver and near Juan de Fuca Strait. - Travel disruptions - Strong winds tossing loose objects and damaging outdoor holiday decorations - Possible power outages - Elevated water levels through Juan de Fuca Strait this morning Remarks: A low pressure system is spreading strong southeast winds to the inner South Coast. A quick transition to strong west winds are expected this morning behind the system. This will spread across Metro Vancouver and through Juan de Fuca Strait. Winds will ease near midday. At high tide this morning, strong winds from the west will give elevated water levels near Juan de Fuca Strait, especially near Victoria Harbour. ### High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
