Special Weather Statement
Detailed Description
Moderate to heavy rain from an atmospheric river is expected to continue through Saturday evening before diminishing with light rain expected through Sunday. As of 3 pm Saturday around 2 to 4 inches of rain has fallen over the last 24 hours across the Central Panhandle around Kake and Petersburg to Wrangell and northern Prince of Wales Island. Another 0.75 to 1.5 inches of rain is expected through Sunday with the highest amounts near Petersburg and Wrangell. Check that sump pumps are operational, and keep gutters clear. On roadways, watch for debris clogging street drains. Boat owners should check bilge pumps. Rivers and streams are rising and will be running high through Sunday but no flooding is expected at this time.
