Brief Description SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
Detailed Description 12:53 AM CDT Sunday 25 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: R.M. of Fisher incl. Poplarfield Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and torrential rain. Thunderstorm activity will continue across central Manitoba tonight and into Sunday morning. Some of these thunderstorms will be severe. With high humidity in place and slow storm motion, heavy rain is the most significant concern. The main threats from these thunderstorms will be: - Rainfall totals in excess of 100 mm - Hail to the size of golf balls - Wind gusts to 100 km/h Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
