3:32 AM CDT Saturday 11 May 2024 Snowfall Warning in effect for: Rankin Region including Whale Cove Strong spring storm to impact southern Kivalliq on Saturday. Hazards: Heavy snow and blowing snow with 10 cm accumulation. Timing: Overnight Friday into Saturday. Conditions improving early Saturday evening. Remarks: A strong low pressure system approaching from the west will spread heavy snow into Rankin Inlet and Whale Cove. The heavy snow will persist through Saturday afternoon with 5 to 10 cm of snowfall accumulation expected by Saturday evening. Strong winds will accompany the falling snow, giving reduced visibilities in blowing snow. The snow will taper off and winds will diminish early Saturday evening and conditions will improve. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.
