Brief Description SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
Detailed Description 10:40 AM MDT Thursday 15 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Woodlands Co. near Whitecourt and Blue Ridge Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Thunderstorms will continue to develop this afternoon and evening. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe. Thunderstorms will move towards the east, and weaken this evening. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
