| Detailed Description | * LOCATION. The northern Kuskokwim Delta coast from the communities of Newtok south to Kipnuk. * WAVES AND SURF. Water levels are expected to rise during high tide to 1 to 3 feet above the normal highest tide line. Waves heights of 4 to 8 feet by the coast. * TIMING. Wednesday morning through late Wednesday night. Waves and surf will peak Wednesday afternoon during high tide. For Newtok, a secondary peak will be possible with the high tide on Thursday morning. * IMPACTS. High surf may inundate or move property along the shoreline. Localized beach erosion is possible. There is potential for elevated water levels to persist into Friday due to a long duration of westerly to southwesterly winds in conjunction with multiple high tide cycles. |
