3:56 PM CST Wednesday 21 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Hwy 135 including Pelican Narrows and Sandy Bay Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Thunderstorms have developed this afternoon along a slow-moving cold front. These thunderstorms will continue into the early evening hours. A few of these thunderstorms may become severe with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy downpours. Fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
