Strong winds and storm surge along the coast could back up flow along the lower Kuskokwim River, leading to minor flooding or erosion from now through Tuesday night. Flooding is possible along and near the Kuskokwim River, from Bethel to the mouth of the river. This includes tributaries, low- lying areas, and nearby Tundra villages such as Napakiak. Any flooding that occurs along the river is UNLIKELY to be as severe as it was for the August 17-18, 2024 event. Wind speeds with this storm will be weaker, and water levels are about 2 feet lower now than they were in August. Residents should consider moving items to higher ground as a precaution, and carefully monitor conditions in flood-prone areas.
