FOG ADVISORY |
Detailed Description |
4:35 AM CST Thursday 25 July 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: City of Prince Albert One final day of extreme heat is expected for parts of central Saskatchewan. Daytime high temperatures will reach 30 degrees Celsius and above on Thursday. Humidity will also be noticeable, with humidex values likely exceeding 34. A slow-moving ridge of high pressure has been responsible for the extreme heat in Saskatchewan. A reprieve from the heat will begin Thursday night as a cold front passes through the province. Cooler temperatures will arrive on Friday. Stay out of the sun during the peak hours of 11 AM - 3 p.m., whenever possible. If you need to be outside, wear appropriate sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat, sunglasses and light, loose-fitting cotton clothes. Avoid any extreme physical exertion and keep in the shade whenever possible. Stay in air-conditioned buildings as much as you can. If you do not have air conditioning at home, know where to go to cool down. Air-conditioned public spaces include malls, leisure centres, libraries, etc. Stay hydrated with cold water and cold drinks. Check on neighbours, family and friends and have someone do the same for you. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues. Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions. Please call HealthLine 811 for advice on health risks, symptoms and precautions associated with heat. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to SKstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #SKStorm . Issued by Environment Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan Statements 4:37 AM CST Thursday 25 July 2024 Fog Advisory in effect for: City of Prince Albert Near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring.
