Brief Description Special Weather Statement
Detailed Description A series of low pressure systems will impact the West Coast with strong winds, rain, and potential coastal flooding. The first and weakest of these Bering storms will move through the Bering Strait Sunday into Sunday night, bringing large breaking waves and elevated water levels along the West Coast Sunday morning through Monday afternoon. Conditions are expected to improve Monday afternoon. For the latest details on this storm, please see current High Surf Advisories. The second and stronger low, the remnants of Typhoon Ampil, will move north and east out of the northern Pacific into the southern Bering Sea Monday into Tuesday, into the central Bering Sea Tuesday night, and through the Bering Strait Wednesday. This track will bring a long fetch of strong and gusty southwesterly winds to areas south of the Bering Strait Tuesday into Wednesday. This dynamic fetch will enhance the potential of coastal flooding along the West Coast south of the Bering Strait Wednesday into Thursday. Weather models vary on timing and exact track of this storm at this time. The track of this low will greatly affect which areas see the strongest winds and highest water levels.
