| Detailed Description | 9:18 AM EDT Tuesday 25 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Windsor - Leamington - Essex County At 9:17 AM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 60 kilometres west of Sarnia to 30 kilometres west of Amherstburg to 100 kilometres southwest of Amherstburg, moving east at 55 km/h. Hazard: Up to 90 km/h wind gusts. Locations impacted include: Windsor, Amherstburg, Tecumseh, Kingsville, Belle River, Lakeshore, LaSalle, South Windsor, McGregor, Windsor Airport, Colchester, Harrow, Maidstone, Essex and Cottam. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
