3:32 PM MDT Thursday 25 July 2024 Rainfall Warning in effect for: R.M. of Wood Buffalo near Fort McMurray and Anzac Heavy rain will continue tonight and Friday with total rainfall amounts of 70 to 90 mm expected by Saturday. The heaviest rainfall amounts will be in areas where embedded thunderstorms occur. Heavy rain will taper off by Saturday morning. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Watches 5:18 PM MDT Thursday 25 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: R.M. of Wood Buffalo near Fort McMurray and Anzac Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Isolated thunderstorms will continue this evening. A few of these thunderstorms may become severe in nature. Thunderstorms will weaken overnight. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
